| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, Robert M. "Bob" Lawless was accepted into the | ||||||
| 3 | Steamfitter Local 353
Joint Apprenticeship and Training | ||||||
| 4 | Committee (JATC) on October 10, 1969, and initiated into | ||||||
| 5 | Steamfitters Local 353 on February
27, 1970; he served his | ||||||
| 6 | 5-year apprenticeship, turning out as a
journeyman on April 4, | ||||||
| 7 | 1974; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Bob Lawless worked for 34 years in the field | ||||||
| 9 | mostly as a HVAC tech; during
this time, he served various | ||||||
| 10 | officers positions, starting with the union secretary's
| ||||||
| 11 | position and working his way up to executive board and finally | ||||||
| 12 | Business Manager
of Steamfitters Local 353 in January of 2003; | ||||||
| 13 | and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Bob Lawless has always been generous with his time | ||||||
| 15 | and talents, giving back
to the apprentices as well as the | ||||||
| 16 | journeymen; he taught for many years in the
JATC | ||||||
| 17 | apprenticeship; he was appointed to help design the new | ||||||
| 18 | training facility
for Steamfitters Local 353 in May of 1997 and | ||||||
| 19 | his excellence in design and his
knowledge in the area of HVAC | ||||||
| 20 | made him a valuable person on the committee; he gave many | ||||||
| 21 | volunteer hours to this project; and
| ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Bob Lawless also served as a trustee on the health | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | and welfare and pension plans
for his local union for over 20 | ||||||
| 2 | years, rising to Chairman of both committees; he was a
member | ||||||
| 3 | of the executive board of the West Central Illinois Building | ||||||
| 4 | and Construction Trades Council,
serving as Vice-President; he | ||||||
| 5 | also was appointed as a Vice-President of the
Illinois Pipe | ||||||
| 6 | Trades Association; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Bob Lawless always put the members of Steamfitters | ||||||
| 8 | Local 353 before his
own personal interests; he has been a | ||||||
| 9 | loyal and devoted union member, giving
back both to the union | ||||||
| 10 | and his community; he understands that excellence in the
field | ||||||
| 11 | and in training will be the driving force in building a better | ||||||
| 12 | future for
generations to come; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Bob Lawless retired as Business Manager of | ||||||
| 14 | Steamfitters Local 353 on
February 1, 2015 after 46 years of | ||||||
| 15 | dedicated service; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
| ||||||
| 18 | recognize Robert M. "Bob" Lawless for his 46 years of dedicated | ||||||
| 19 | service to the
Steamfitters Local 353; and be it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to Bob Lawless as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
