HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to hear of the passing of John P.
4Gardner, Sr. of East Peoria and wish to honor his life and pay
5tribute to this very special man; and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was born on May 18, 1950 in
7Peoria; his parents were Charles and Erna (nee Moeller)
8Gardner; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was president of and a longtime
10electrician at Oberlander Electric Company, Inc. in East
11Peoria, where he managed the business for his father,
12"Charlie", and helped it grow into what it is today; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. enjoyed many hobbies, including
14golfing, all things motorcycles, R/C boats and airplanes,
15go-karts, and piloting airplanes; and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. had a deep passion for sports;
17he was an Illinois State flat track motorcycle champion, a flag
18man at the Peoria Speedway, a die-hard Bradley Braves fan, and
19an original Bradley Scholarship Society member; and
 
20    WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was also deeply involved in his

1community as a board member on the East Peoria Chamber of
2Commerce and the Pekin Country Club; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Because of John Gardner, Sr.'s vision,
4leadership, and tenacity, the City of East Peoria enjoys a
5wonderful Riverfront Memorial for its veterans that is seen
6from both Peoria and East Peoria's downtown area; and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. is survived by his fiancee,
8Josie Fincham; 2 sons, John Gardner, Jr. and Bob Gardner; 2
9brothers, Jim Gardner and Steve Gardner; and a sister, Terri
10Jones; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13mourn the passing of John P. Gardner, Sr. and extend our
14sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all of those
15who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of John Gardner as an expression of our
18respect and deepest sympathies.
