2 | | WHEREAS, Linda E. Daley retired on January 1, 2015 after |
3 | | extraordinary service as legislative aide and chief of
staff to |
4 | | Rep. David R. Leitch, beginning in January of 1989; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Linda Daley is recognized throughout Illinois for |
6 | | her exceptional ability to solve difficult
constituent |
7 | | problems, her fundraising prowess, and her legions of friends |
8 | | within the General Assembly,
State agencies, and legislative |
9 | | staff; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Linda Daley has earned the esteem of the Peoria |
11 | | community for her service on the Peoria
District 150 Board of |
12 | | Education from 1986 to 1996; the Peoria Charter School Board |
13 | | from 1996 to 1998; the
Peoria Public Library Board from 2004 to |
14 | | 2013; and currently, the Peoria Riverfront Museum Board of
|
15 | | Trustees from 2013 to present; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Linda Daley was President of the District 150 |
17 | | School Board in 1991 and from 1994 to 1996; she was especially |
18 | | proud
of developing the Valeska Hinton Early Childhood Center, |
19 | | the most innovative early childhood center of
its day; in 1996, |
20 | | the Illinois State Board of Education selected her for the |
21 | | statewide "Those Who Excel"
award of excellence; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Linda Daley, as building committee chair, led a |
2 | | $28 million project to construct a new library
and renovate 4 |
3 | | others, including a Carnegie landmark; the projects were under |
4 | | budget and ahead of
schedule; she was Vice-President from 2010 |
5 | | to 2012 and President from 2012 to 2013 of the Peoria Public |
6 | | Library Board; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Linda Daley's other honors include the "25 Women |
8 | | in Leadership", the 2006 Key Leader award, the YMCA Illini
|
9 | | Cluster in 1998, the "Leading Edge" community leadership award |
10 | | in 1996, and the Charles C. Schlink Good
Government Award in |
11 | | 1995; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Linda Daley graduated from the University of |
13 | | Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Biology; she was a GED |
14 | | instructor from 1988 to 1989 and taught horticulture at |
15 | | Illinois Central College from 1977 to 1979; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Linda Daley has 3 children, Aaron (Becky), |
17 | | grandson Parker; Adam (Morgan), grandchildren,
Emerson, Grant, |
18 | | and Palmer; and Alison; therefore, be it
|
19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
20 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
21 | | commend Linda E. Daley for her excellent service on behalf of |
22 | | the people of Illinois and wish her a long and happy |
