Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Educator Licensure Article of the School Code. With respect to Substitute Teaching Licenses, provides that an applicant may receive a limited Substitute Teaching License without holding a bachelor's degree or higher if he or she will be employed by a specific school district to work each school year for 5 or fewer consecutive days in the same classroom teaching the same group of students and has a high school diploma, valuable work experience as determined by the school district, and a minimum of 60 semester hours of credit from a regionally accredited institution of higher education or he or she meets such other more stringent requirements as the school district may require. Provides that the holder of a limited Substitute Teaching License may have the limited Substitute Teaching License renewed without having passed a test of basic skills. Effective immediately.
