Synopsis As Introduced Establishes the Illinois State Commission on Criminal Justice and Sentencing Reform. Provides that the Commission shall conduct a comprehensive review of the State's current criminal justice and sentencing structure, sentencing practices, community supervision, and the use of alternatives to incarceration, including a review and evaluation of specified matters. Provides that the Commission shall recommend amendments to State law in accordance with specified criteria and that each department, agency, board, or authority of the State or any unit of local government shall provide records and other information to the Commission as requested by the Commission to carry out its duties, subject to specified conditions. Contains provisions regarding: membership of the Commission; administrative support; reports; dissolution of the Commission upon submission of its final report; transparency; severability; and other matters. Effective immediately.
