SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles G. Rakers of Aviston, who passed
4away on July 29, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Rakers was born in Aviston on July 5, 1939
6to Bernard and Gertrude (nee Hellmann) Rakers, Sr.; he married
7Dolores Imming on June 5, 1962 in Aviston; he was a veteran of
8the United States Army Reserve; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Charles Rakers worked for Markus Cabinet
10Manufacturing in Aviston, and then for Aviston Lumber for 38
11years; he retired from the Centralia Correctional Facility as a
12central management services garage foreman; he was a retired
13member of the Aviston Fire Department, a former Board Member
14for the Village of Aviston from 1983 to 1989, the former mayor
15of the Village of Aviston from 1989 to 2009, a member of the
16Clinton County Board, and a member and former Chairman of the
17Clinton County Republican Central Committee; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Charles Rakers enjoyed being at his clubhouse,
19"Rakers Acres"; he was a member of St. Francis Parish of Assisi
20in Aviston; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Charles Rakers was preceded in death by his wife,

1Dolores; his parents, Bernard and Gertrude Rakers, Sr.; 3
2brothers, Ben, Tony, and Al Rakers; 2 sisters, Annie Kalmer and
3Mary "Sally" Haselhorst; and sisters-in-law and
4brothers-in-law, Clara Rakers, Leona Rakers, Vincent Kalmer,
5Rita Rakers, Vic Kalmer, Robert Haselhorst, Vince Langenhorst,
6David Heimann, Walter Toennies, Arleen Lochridge, Marilyn
7Kuhl, and Marge Kerkemeyer; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Charles Rakers is survived by his 2 sons, Gary
9(Kathleen) Rakers and Michael (Kimberly) Rakers; 5
10grandchildren, April (Jason) Kohnen, Amanda (David) Erlinger,
11Jessica Rakers, Jacob Rakers, and Ben Rakers; 2
12great-grandchildren, Sarah and Meagan Kohnen; a brother, Jim
13(Marilyn) Rakers; 4 sisters, Rita Kalmer, Delores Langenhorst,
14Johanna Heimann, and Julie Toennies; brothers-in-law and
15sister-in-law, Robert Lochridge, Matthew Kuhl, Paul
16Kerkemeyer, and Ruth and Raymond Blumenstein; and many nieces,
17nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Charles G. Rakers, and extend our sincere condolences to his
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
22further
 
23    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
