2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Harriet Wilson, who passed away on April | ||||||
4 | 13, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Harriet Wilson was born on September 20, 1922 in | ||||||
6 | Darlaston, South Staffordshire, England; her parents were | ||||||
7 | Henry and Annie May (nee Foster) Moreton; she married Stan | ||||||
8 | Wilson on June 2, 1945 in Darlaston; she lived in Wonder Lake | ||||||
9 | for 63 years and was a happy winter Snowbird in Sun City, | ||||||
10 | Arizona; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Harriet Wilson served in the Auxiliary | ||||||
12 | Territorial Service in World War II from 1940 to 1945; she was | ||||||
13 | one of the first women trained on the then-new radar detection | ||||||
14 | system; while stationed on the southeast coast of England, she | ||||||
15 | met her future husband; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, After she was demobilized from the Auxiliary | ||||||
17 | Territorial Service, Harriet Wilson came to the United States | ||||||
18 | on a Canadian War Bride ship in 1946; she and her husband moved | ||||||
19 | to Chicago and stayed on the weekends at the Wonder Lake | ||||||
20 | boarding house of Earl and Ruth Barnard across from the Mill | ||||||
21 | Inn in Wonder Lake; they later bought their home in Wonder Lake | ||||||
22 | and happily lived there for 63 years; during this time, she |

1 | helped her husband with the printing of the local Township | ||||||
2 | News; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Harriet Wilson was a Sunday school teacher at | ||||||
4 | Nativity Lutheran Church, a room mother at Harrison School, and | ||||||
5 | a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for many years; she also worked | ||||||
6 | at the Admiral Corporation in McHenry and Science Research | ||||||
7 | (SRA) in Lakemoor before retiring from Oak Industries in | ||||||
8 | Crystal Lake; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Harriet Wilson was a Lifetime Member of the | ||||||
10 | Woodstock Women of the Moose Chapter 364 and a proud member and | ||||||
11 | Recording Secretary of the McHenry American Legion Post #491; | ||||||
12 | one of her favorite obligations as a member of the American | ||||||
13 | Legion was to present the American Legion Awards each year at | ||||||
14 | Harrison School; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Harriet Wilson enjoyed knitting, sewing, and | ||||||
16 | gardening; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Harriet Wilson was preceded in death by her | ||||||
18 | parents; her loving husband of 63 years, Stan; an infant son, | ||||||
19 | Paul; a sister, May (the late William) Pitt; and 3 brothers, | ||||||
20 | Harry, Eric, and George; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Harriet Wilson is survived by a daughter, Ruth |

1 | (the late Robert) Cepuder; grandchildren, Jennifer Thibault | ||||||
2 | and Aaron (Jen) Cepuder, Sr.; her great-grandchildren, | ||||||
3 | Samantha and Alyia Thibault, AJ (Aaron) Cepuder, Jr., and Cole | ||||||
4 | and Zach Hedlund; sisters, Gladys (the late Tom) Dockery and | ||||||
5 | Joan (the late Tom) Moseley; a brother, John (the late Dorothy) | ||||||
6 | Moreton; a sister-in-law, Betty (the late George) Moreton; and | ||||||
7 | like a sister, Ida Behling; she was also a very special 'long | ||||||
8 | distance' great aunt to Valery (John) Russell, Jean (Sid) | ||||||
9 | Martin, Peter (Julie) Moseley, Yvonne (John) Collins, | ||||||
10 | Christopher (Jane) Moreton, Stephen (Sue) Moreton, and their | ||||||
11 | families who reside in England; therefore, be it

12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
14 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Harriet Wilson; and be | ||||||
15 | it further

16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
17 | presented to the family of Harriet Wilson as an expression of | ||||||
18 | our sympathy.
