SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Henry "Hank" Tonigan, II of Waukegan, who passed away on April 1, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Henry Tonigan was born on April 2, 1925 in Waukegan to Henry and Wilma Tonigan; he was an Eagle Scout and a life-long supporter of the Boys Scouts of America; he served in the United States Navy during World War II as a weatherman on the USS Intrepid; he married Jean Schroeder in Rantoul in June of 1947; after his service, he graduated from the University of Illinois with a Master's of Education and from Northwestern University with a Master's of Business Administration; and

WHEREAS, Henry Tonigan worked as a plant manager for US Steel and Ozite Manufacturing; he was a proud owner of Profile Publications and Red Line Litho in Crystal Lake, for which he received numerous Chamber of Commerce awards; and

WHEREAS, Henry Tonigan was an avid nature enthusiast, golfer, and a 32nd degree Mason with the Rising Son Lodge; he was past-President of 2 Lutheran Congressional Churches in Waukegan and Barrington; and

WHEREAS, Henry Tonigan was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean; daughter, Connie; granddaughter, Brandy; brothers, Bud and Dick Tonigan; and sisters, Joy Weeks, Louise Simshauser, and Marilyn "Ducky" Lea; and

WHEREAS, Henry Tonigan is survived by his son, Henry "Skip" (Rebecca) Tonigan, III; his grandchildren, Henry "Hawk" Tonigan, IV and Alexandria C. Tonigan; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Henry "Hank" Tonigan, II, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Henry Tonigan, II as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
