2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Joseph E. Burns, who passed away on April |
4 | | 23, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burns was born in Washington, D.C., where he |
6 | | developed his lifelong passion for horses, was a graduate of |
7 | | Georgetown University, and later founded Ameriforms |
8 | | Corporation; he later married and moved to Deerfield, where his |
9 | | daughter was born; he subsequently moved to Lake Forest 25 |
10 | | years ago, where he married his loving wife, Gail, and lived |
11 | | happily ever after; and

12 | | WHEREAS, After retiring, Joe Burns volunteered for several |
13 | | years, taking food to the poor; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burns was preceded in death by his parents, |
15 | | John and Helen Burns, and 2 brothers, Francis and Jack Burns; |
16 | | and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Joe Burns is survived by his wife, Gail Smith |
18 | | Burns; a daughter, Toni Burns Colhoff; 4 grandchildren, Kristy |
19 | | Colhoff Schaut, Denny Colhoff, Julie Colhoff, and Jackie |
20 | | Colhoff; a great-granddaughter, Lylah Colhoff; a brother, |
21 | | Walter Burns; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
