SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Judith Ann "Judy" Woulfe of Godfrey, who
4passed away on December 29, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Judith Woulfe was born on November 6, 1937 in
6Alton to Jack and Virginia (nee Eckhart) Tonsor; she attended
7St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Marquette
8Catholic High School in Alton in 1955; she married Paul L.
9Woulfe on November 7, 1958 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in
10Alton; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Judith Woulfe received her elementary education
12certification from Washington University in St. Louis and
13taught 2nd grade at Saints Peter and Paul School in Alton; she
14then accepted a position at Owens Illinois Glass Company; she
15later worked in the Alton Township Assessors office, served as
16the Chief Examiner for the City of Alton's Civil Service
17Commission, and as the Executive Assistant to the Alton Fire
18Department; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Judith Woulfe enjoyed summer road trips to the
20Great Smokey Mountains, Table Rock Lake, White Sands, Estes
21Park, and Florida beaches; she also liked to host holiday
22parties, family gatherings, being a Girl Scouts leader,

1dancing, embroidery, needlepoint, quilting, sewing, and
2reading; she was a life-long learner and returned to college in
31982 to finish her degree; she was well known for her baking
4skills, often treating her family and friends to Red Velvet
5Cake, 10-pound cheese cake, carrot cake, and tapioca pudding;
6she was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where
7she served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and in other
8roles; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Judith Woulfe is survived by her husband, Paul;
10her children, Matthew Paul, Virginia Jo (David Beile), Mark
11David (Teresa), and Andrew Jude (Melissa); her grandchildren,
12Christopher Woulfe (Casey Solterman) and Laura Woulfe, Holly
13(Ryan) Fairless, Kaylin and Phillip Beile, Jennifer and Richard
14Woulfe, and Keegan and Tessa Woulfe; her sister, Jackie (Ralph)
15Gissal; her brother, John (Fran) Tonsor; her sister-in-law,
16Patricia Runtz; her brother-in-law, Harold Woulfe; her special
17cousin, Marsha Yarnell; and many nieces and nephews; therefore,
18be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Judith Ann "Judy" Woulfe, and extend our sincere condolences to
22her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
23further
