2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Patricia Ann Taylor, who passed away on |
4 | | December 2, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor was born on February 17, 1959 in |
6 | | Clinton, Mississippi; her parents were Timothy C. Patton and |
7 | | R.V. Barber; she married Gerard Lamont Taylor in 1982; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor accepted Christ at an early age |
9 | | and joined Starlight Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago; she |
10 | | later became a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church in |
11 | | Bellwood; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor attended Oliver Wendell Holmes |
13 | | Elementary School and Visitation High School in Chicago; after |
14 | | high school, she attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, |
15 | | where she was elected president of the Black Student Union and |
16 | | graduated with honors with a triple major in English, black |
17 | | studies, and history; after college, she attended the Ohio |
18 | | State University Moritz College of Law; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor was employed as an executive |
20 | | assistant to the CEO of Morton Salt, Inc. for many years; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor enjoyed reading, crocheting, |
2 | | shopping, and spending time with her family; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor is preceded in death by her |
4 | | parents; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Patricia Taylor is survived by her daughter, |
6 | | Jennifer C. Taylor; her son, Gerard L. Taylor, II; her |
7 | | granddaughter, Malia Mae Taylor; her brothers, Henry L. Patton, |
8 | | Arthur J. Curry, Thomas (Frances) Barber, Timothy (Katherine) |
9 | | Barber, Jimmie L. Barber, Leon (Diane) Carr, Charles (Gail) |
10 | | Carr, and Richard Larry; her sisters, Ollie (Eddie) Adkins, |
11 | | Sarah F. Barber, and Carolyn (Kenneth) Johnson; her uncle, |
12 | | Peter (Emma) Martin; her aunts, Rebecca (John Curtis) Robinson |
13 | | and Bettye (Charles) Speed; and her many nephews, nieces, |
14 | | cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her |
17 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Patricia Ann Taylor; |
18 | | and be it further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Patricia Taylor as an expression of |
21 | | our sympathy.
