SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Mary Barb Johnson, who passed away on 
4July 20, 2013; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Barb Johnson earned her Juris Doctor from the 
6University of Pennsylvania Law School; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Mary Barb Johnson had a long and distinguished 
8career in government in Lake Forest; she served 2 terms as 
9Alderman for the 1st Ward, 2 terms on the zoning board, and a 
10term on the Library Board; she was also the first female 
11trustee of Lake Forest Hospital, where she served from 1985 to 
121995; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Mary Barb Johnson was a member of the Women's 
14Boards of the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, 
15and Lake Forest College; she was a leader in the renowned "Know 
16Your Chicago Committee"; she was a member of the Illinois 
17Health Facilities Planning Board; she was a lawyer for the 
18Federal Defender's Program in Chicago; and

  
 
19    WHEREAS, Mary Barb Johnson was preceded in death by her 
20husband of 70 years, William B. Johnson; and

1    WHEREAS, Mary Barb Johnson is survived by her sons, Ben and 
2Kirk; her daughter, Kathleen Browning; and her grandchildren, 
3Will, Olivia, Eileen, Grace, Ben, and John; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her 
6family and friends, mourn the passing of Mary Barb Johnson; and 
7be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Mary Barb Johnson as an expression 
10of our sympathy.
