SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John G. Machonga, who passed away on
4March 29, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Machonga was born on November 3, 1929, to
6John and Rozalia (nee Ptasinski) Machonga; he served during the
7Korean War (1951-1953) with the 101st Airborne Division, 506th
8Regiment, Company B; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Machonga was recognized nationally as a
10leading professional in the area of quality control management,
11and he helped numerous immigrants with limited formal education
12establish careers in quality assurance; and
 
13    WHEREAS, John Machonga enjoyed sitting with his and his
14son's dogs, Taffy, Shadrack, Jake, and Lucy, traveling with his
15family across the U.S. to see such places as the White House,
16Colorado, Maine, and other states, and making large Sunday
17breakfasts for the family; he took his sons to see the Bears,
18Blackhawks, Cubs, and White Sox, taught his children how to
19bowl and ride a horse, watched his grandson play numerous
20sports, and enjoyed eating Polish food; he valued education and
21made sure to pass that on to his children; and

1    WHEREAS, John Machonga has joined departed parents,
2brothers, sisters, and good friend, Mimi O'Connell; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Machonga was the beloved husband of the late
4Helen F. (nee Pacella); the fond father of Susan J. (Chris)
5Nash, Gary J. (Joan) Machonga, and John (Lydia) Machonga; proud
6grandfather of John Anthony Machonga; and he leaves behind
7numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11John Machonga, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of John Machonga as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
