2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Judy Tucker of Chicago; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Judy Tucker was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on |
5 | | September 1, 1943, to Lovell and Dorothy Ellis; she moved with |
6 | | her family to Chicago and then to Markham; in 1972, she married |
7 | | Elishious Tucker; while raising her children, she attended |
8 | | Victor Business School in Evergreen Park; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Judy Tucker began her career as a public servant |
10 | | as an intern with U.S. Congressman Ralph Metcalfe Sr.; she then |
11 | | served as Congressman Metcalfe Sr.'s executive secretary and |
12 | | his congressional aide; Congressman Metcalfe Sr.'s son, Ralph, |
13 | | invited her to serve as executive secretary and office manager; |
14 | | and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Judy Tucker held several positions with the City |
16 | | of Chicago; she was the personal aide for the Commission on |
17 | | Human Relations, the Secretary of Public Utilities and the |
18 | | Committee on Finance for Alderman Tyrone Kenner, office manager |
19 | | for Cook County Commissioner Jerry Butler, and executive |
20 | | secretary for Alderman Bobby Rush; she followed Alderman Bobby |
21 | | Rush to Washington, D.C. when he was elected congressman and |
22 | | she served in many key positions for him, most notably as |

1 | | Director of Constituent Service; she retired in September 2010 |
2 | | after 38 years serving the public; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Judy Tucker loved to cook and garden and her |
4 | | dishes were highly anticipated by those at family, church, and |
5 | | work events; her office and garden were made serene by the |
6 | | greenery that flourished; she devoted much of her time to her |
7 | | church, serving on the Usher Board for over 20 years and |
8 | | supporting other church ministries in anyway she could; she was |
9 | | a faithful member of the Miracle House of Prayer Church; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Judy Tucker was preceded in death by her parents |
11 | | and her brother, Lovell Jr.; and

12 | | WHEREAS, Judy Tucker is survived by her husband, Elishious; |
13 | | her children, Harriet Pitts Thomas, William Pitts, Aaron Pitts, |
14 | | Rev. Michael Pitts (Carmen), and Dottie Hall; her siblings, |
15 | | Lydia Christian (Dorris) and Cedric Ellis (Kathy); her 18 |
16 | | grandchildren; her 7 great-grandchildren; her very special |
17 | | sister friend, Doris Murray; and her many aunts, uncles, |
18 | | nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
21 | | Judy Tucker, and we extend our sincere condolences to her |
22 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
