1 | | SECTION 2. TERMS
|
2 | | These elected officers of the Executive Branch shall hold |
3 | | office for
four years beginning on the second Monday of January |
4 | | after their
election and, except in the case of the Lieutenant |
5 | | Governor, until their
successors are qualified. Except as |
6 | | provided in Section 7, they They shall be elected at the |
7 | | general election
in 1978 and every four years thereafter.

10 | | SECTION 7. VACANCIES IN OTHER ELECTIVE OFFICES

11 | | If the Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller or |
12 | | Treasurer
fails to qualify or if his office becomes vacant, the |
13 | | Governor shall
fill the office by appointment. If at the time |
14 | | of the failure to qualify or the office becomes vacant there |
15 | | are 28 or fewer months remaining in the term, the appointee |
16 | | shall hold office until the end of the term. If at the time of |
17 | | the failure to qualify or the office becomes vacant there are |
18 | | more than 28 months remaining in the term, the The appointee |
19 | | shall hold office until
the elected officer qualifies or until |
20 | | a successor is elected at the next general election and
|
21 | | qualified as may be provided by law and shall not be subject to |
22 | | removal
by the Governor. If the Lieutenant Governor fails to |
23 | | qualify or if his
office becomes vacant, it shall remain vacant |
24 | | until the end of the term.
