1 | | AN ACT concerning public aid.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 10-2 as follows:
|
6 | | (305 ILCS 5/10-2) (from Ch. 23, par. 10-2)
|
7 | | Sec. 10-2. Extent of Liability. A husband is liable for the
|
8 | | the support of his
wife and a wife for the support of her |
9 | | husband. Unless the child is otherwise
emancipated, the parents |
10 | | are severally liable for the support of any child
under age 18, |
11 | | and for any child aged 18 who is attending high school, until
|
12 | | that child graduates from high school, or attains the age of |
13 | | 19, whichever is
earlier. The term "child" includes a child |
14 | | born out of wedlock, or legally
adopted child. |
15 | | In addition to the primary obligation of support imposed |
16 | | upon
responsible relatives, such relatives, if individually or |
17 | | together in any
combination they have sufficient income or |
18 | | other resources to support a
needy person, in whole or in part, |
19 | | shall be liable for any financial aid
extended under this Code |
20 | | to a person for whose support they are
responsible, including |
21 | | amounts expended for funeral and burial costs.
