Amends the Cook County Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that the board shall list on its website all board vacancies, the election calendar, the statutory requirements for each elected board position, and election rules adopted by the board.

1 | | AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 9-186 as follows:
|
6 | | (40 ILCS 5/9-186) (from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 9-186)

7 | | Sec. 9-186. Board elections. In each year, the board shall |
8 | | conduct a
regular election, under rules adopted by it, at least |
9 | | 30 days prior to the
expiration of the term of each elected |
10 | | employee or annuitant member.

11 | | To be eligible to be a county employee member, a person |
12 | | must be an
employee of the county and must have at least 5 |
13 | | years of service credit in
that capacity by December 1 of the |
14 | | year of election. To be eligible to be
a forest preserve |
15 | | district member, a person must be an employee of the
forest |
16 | | preserve district and must have at least 5 years of service |
17 | | credit
in that capacity by December 1 of the year of election.

18 | | Only those persons who are employees of the county shall be |
19 | | eligible to vote
for the 3 county employee members, only those |
20 | | persons who are employees of the
forest preserve district shall |
21 | | be eligible to vote for the forest preserve
district member, |
22 | | only those persons who are currently receiving
retirement |
23 | | benefits under this Article shall be eligible to
