2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to honor Eldora Love Adkins for her work |
4 | | in her community; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Eldora Love Adkins has served as a teacher and |
6 | | administrator in East St. Louis Public School District 189 for |
7 | | over 50 years; rising above self and male chauvinism of the |
8 | | time with the one aim of helping children, she worked with |
9 | | parents on a case by case basis in the junior high schools to |
10 | | ensure their children were being educated; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, When Eldora Love Adkins was promoted as one of the |
12 | | first women to a leadership role as an elementary school and |
13 | | junior high school principal, and later as assistant principal |
14 | | at the well-known East St. Louis Lincoln Senior High School, |
15 | | Eldora Love Adkins continued her role of leading by example; |
16 | | every child was afforded an opportunity to succeed in the |
17 | | classroom at her schools, no matter what his or her perceived |
18 | | station was in the community; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, In addition to devoting countless years to the |
20 | | children of District 189, Eldora Love Adkins built solid and |
21 | | lasting relationships with their families; those relationships |
22 | | allowed her to mentor others both formally and informally; for |
