|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Sheriff Richard A. |
4 | | Randall on the occasion of his retirement as Sheriff of Kendall |
5 | | County; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Richard Randall is a native of Massachusetts; he |
7 | | and his wife of 46 years, Myrla, have lived in the area since |
8 | | 1968; in that time, he has served in a number of public safety |
9 | | roles; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, After his honorable discharge in 1968 from the |
11 | | United States Air Force, where he reached the rank of sergeant |
12 | | and was a jet engine mechanic, Richard Randall was hired as a |
13 | | Yorkville police officer, where he managed to juggle his |
14 | | education at Waubonsee Community College, his career as a |
15 | | police officer with the Yorkville Police Department, and his |
16 | | growing family; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, After graduating from Waubonsee, Richard Randall |
18 | | continued his education, earning a Criminal Justice Management |
19 | | Certificate from Aurora University and attending the FBI |
20 | | National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, where he graduated from |
21 | | the Academy's Law Enforcement Executive Development program; |
22 | | and

1 | | WHEREAS, Richard Randall's career path led him to become |
2 | | Chief of Police for the Yorkville Police Department, where he |
3 | | served from 1979 until 1986, when he was elected to serve as |
4 | | Kendall County Sheriff; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Now completing his 7th term as sheriff, Richard |
6 | | Randall is the longest-serving sheriff in Kendall County |
7 | | history; this role has enabled him to work with regional, |
8 | | national, and international law enforcement agencies to fight |
9 | | crime; he also served as the executive co-chairman of United |
10 | | States local and state representatives for "Project North |
11 | | Star", an initiative to stop cross-border crime between the |
12 | | United States and Canada; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, During Richard Randall's tenure as sheriff, |
14 | | Kendall County has experienced an incredible population boom; |
15 | | because of this, his staff has seen similar growth, rising from |
16 | | 26 employees in 1994 to more than 130 staff members today; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Richard Randall's commitment to his community |
18 | | extends far past his duties as Sheriff; he has been a member of |
19 | | the Bristol-Kendall Fire Department, where he now serves as a |
20 | | volunteer captain; he was a past president of the Kendall |
21 | | County United Fund and a charter member of Yorkville Substance |
22 | | Abuse Via Education; he is a charter sponsor of the Kendall |

1 | | County Criminal Justice Explorer Scouts Post #1155; he is also |
2 | | a member the Yorkville Lions Club and the Kendall County |
3 | | Historical Society; and

4 | | WHEREAS, Richard Randall and his wife live in Yorkville; |
5 | | they have 3 children, Ryan, Kara, and Mark, and 3 |
6 | | grandchildren; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Richard Randall serves as a model of hard |
8 | | work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of |
9 | | Illinois; therefore, be it

10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
11 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
12 | | we congratulate Sheriff Richard A. Randall on the occasion of |
13 | | his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in |
14 | | the future; and be it further

15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
16 | | presented to Richard Randall as a symbol of our esteem and |
17 | | respect.
