| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to acknowledge the excellent police work |
| 4 | | performed by several law enforcement agencies during an armed |
| 5 | | robbery at the First National Bank in Cairo; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Police responded to a call of a robbery in |
| 7 | | progress at approximately 5:15 p.m. on May 15, 2014 and |
| 8 | | discovered 3 victims severely wounded in the employee break |
| 9 | | room of the First National Bank; two of the employees suffered |
| 10 | | fatal wounds and a third employee was in critical condition; |
| 11 | | and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, The suspect fled the scene south towards Missouri; |
| 13 | | the Pulaski County Sheriff and the Illinois State Police |
| 14 | | located the vehicle on I-57 and followed it into Illinois, near |
| 15 | | the Canadian Northern Rail tracks; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on |
| 17 | | foot; he was located on top of a railroad trestle and was |
| 18 | | surrounded by officers from various agencies; within 45 |
| 19 | | minutes, the suspect was apprehended by law enforcement |
| 20 | | personnel from the Illinois State Police, the Alexander County |
| 21 | | Sheriff's Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the |
| 22 | | Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police, |

| 1 | | the Cairo Police Department, the Metropolis Police Department, |
| 2 | | the Pulaski County Police Department, and various other |
| 3 | | out-of-state federal agencies and personnel from the fire |
| 4 | | departments of Cairo and Metropolis; therefore, be it
|
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 6 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 7 | | we commend the law enforcement personnel from the Illinois |
| 8 | | State Police, the Alexander County Sheriff's Department, the |
| 9 | | Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Illinois Department of |
| 10 | | Natural Resources Conservation Police, the Metropolis Police |
| 11 | | Department, the Metropolis Fire Department, the Pulaski County |
| 12 | | Police Department, and various out-of-state federal agencies, |
| 13 | | and the personnel from the fire departments of Cairo and |
| 14 | | Metropolis on their work in quickly apprehending the suspect |
| 15 | | and give our best wishes for a quick and complete recovery to |
| 16 | | the woman injured in the incident; and be it further
|
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 18 | | presented to the Illinois State Police, the Alexander County |
| 19 | | Sheriff's Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the |
| 20 | | Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police, |
| 21 | | the Cairo Police Department, the Cairo Fire Department, the |
| 22 | | Metropolis Police Department, the Metropolis Fire Department, |
| 23 | | and the Pulaski County Police Department.
