2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of C.W. | ||||||
4 | "Mike" Jones of Pekin, who passed away on July 13, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, C.W. Jones was born on August 21, 1931 in Pisgah, | ||||||
6 | Alabama; his parents were Claude Newton and Hattie (nee Smith) | ||||||
7 | Jones; he married Sandra Sue Baker on April 6, 1963 in East | ||||||
8 | Peoria; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, C.W. Jones served his country as a member of the | ||||||
10 | United States Navy during the Korean War from November 10, 1948 | ||||||
11 | to October 22, 1952; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, C.W. Jones worked as a tool and die maker at R. | ||||||
13 | Herschel Manufacturing in East Peoria for 19 years; he later | ||||||
14 | worked at Hiram Walker in Peoria for 9 years; following the | ||||||
15 | closing of both businesses, he changed career paths and began a | ||||||
16 | successful career in retail clothing; he worked at Burlington | ||||||
17 | Coat Factory in Peoria and later was recruited to work at T.J. | ||||||
18 | Maxx in Peoria as the assistant manager; after retiring, he | ||||||
19 | worked as a ranger at Quail Meadows Golf Course in East Peoria | ||||||
20 | for 14 years; and

21 | WHEREAS, C.W. Jones enjoyed woodworking and golfing; he |

1 | also enjoyed dancing with his wife and being members of the | ||||||
2 | Eureka Dance Club and Caper Dance Club; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, C.W. Jones was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
4 | and a half-sister, Paulette Morgan; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, C.W. Jones is survived by his wife, Sandra; 2 | ||||||
6 | sons, Michael (Debra) Jones and Matthew (Sandra) Jones; 2 | ||||||
7 | daughters, Catherine Jones and Lisa (Bret) Gentry; 4 | ||||||
8 | grandchildren, Kyle (Lisa) Jones, Robert Lawrence, Benjamin | ||||||
9 | Jones, and Emersyn "Emmy" Jones; a sister, Shirley Bowling; a | ||||||
10 | half-brother, Danny (Rhonda) Wood; and 2 half-sisters, | ||||||
11 | Cassandra Chauncey and Debra Bowers; therefore, be it
| ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
13 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
14 | we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | C.W. "Mike" Jones; and be it further
| ||||||
16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
17 | presented to the family of C.W. Jones as an expression of our | ||||||
18 | sympathy.
