2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Alfred Guido Travaglini | ||||||
4 | on the occasion of his retirement as superintendent of | ||||||
5 | Frankfort School District 168; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Alfred Travaglini began his career in education | ||||||
7 | teaching 6th grade from March 1970 to June 1971 in District 170 | ||||||
8 | at Garfield Elementary School in Chicago Heights; he then | ||||||
9 | worked as a Special Education Teacher from March 1973 to August | ||||||
10 | 1975 at Jefferson Elementary School in District 170 in Chicago | ||||||
11 | Heights; from 1975 to 1978 he was the Resource Service | ||||||
12 | Supervisor and principal of SPEED (Self-Contained Learning | ||||||
13 | Disabilities Program), during which time he spent 1976 as a | ||||||
14 | teacher of Special Education courses for the National College | ||||||
15 | of Education; and

16 | WHEREAS, In July 1978, Alfred Travaglini was appointed | ||||||
17 | principal of Strassburg Elementary School in District 168 in | ||||||
18 | Sauk Village; he left to pursue a different career path in | ||||||
19 | September 1979 when he opened the Al Travaglini Insurance | ||||||
20 | Agency in Tinley Park; he served as a school board member of | ||||||
21 | the Matteson School District 159 from 1985 to 1989 and on the | ||||||
22 | Southwest Cooperative Board of Directors for Special Education | ||||||
23 | from 1990 to 1994; and

1 | WHEREAS, Alfred Travaglini returned to a career in | ||||||
2 | education when he took the position of Bloom High School | ||||||
3 | Special Education Teacher in District 206 from 2003 to 2006; he | ||||||
4 | returned to Frankfort School District 168 and from 2006 to 2007 | ||||||
5 | he was the Special Education Coordinator; from 2007 to 2010 he | ||||||
6 | was the Director of Special Education, from 2010 to 2011 he was | ||||||
7 | the assistant superintendent, and from 2011 to 2014 he was the | ||||||
8 | superintendent; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Alfred Travaglini was born in Chicago on February | ||||||
10 | 17, 1947 to Bernard and Clara Travaglini; he married Barbara | ||||||
11 | Ann Pellino on August 16, 1969; they reside in Frankfort and | ||||||
12 | together they have a daughter, Crisa Renee Travaglini, and 3 | ||||||
13 | grandchildren, Logan, Taylor, and Gavin; he attended Prairie | ||||||
14 | State Jr. College from 1965 to 1968, and he earned his Bachelor | ||||||
15 | of Science in Elementary Education from McPherson College in | ||||||
16 | Kansas in 1970 and his Master of Science in Special Education | ||||||
17 | Administration/Supervision from the National College of | ||||||
18 | Education in Evanston in 1975; he served in the United States | ||||||
19 | Army from 1971 to 1973; therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
21 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
22 | we congratulate Alfred Guido Travaglini on the occasion of his | ||||||
23 | retirement as superintendent of Frankfort School District 168 |
