2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Willard | ||||||
4 | Anton Scheibe on March 27, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Willard Scheibe was born in Maeystown on August | ||||||
6 | 21, 1934 to Max W. and Sylvia (nee Fromme) Scheibe; he joined | ||||||
7 | the United States Marines in 1953 and served until 1975; he | ||||||
8 | married Opal A. Eichelmann on March 29, 1958 in Waterloo; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Willard Scheibe spent 23 years traveling with his | ||||||
10 | wife to various Marine assignments such as Guam, Finland, | ||||||
11 | California, Virginia, and South Carolina; he served in the | ||||||
12 | Korean and Vietnam Wars; his jobs included chief cook, air | ||||||
13 | marshal and numerous other responsibilities; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Willard Scheibe became active in local politics | ||||||
15 | following his retirement from the service; he served on | ||||||
16 | committees for his precinct for many years, and for his | ||||||
17 | dedication, he received the first "Leroy Reitz Democratic | ||||||
18 | Service Award"; he taught the art of cooking and barbecuing to | ||||||
19 | relatives, friends, and even total strangers and catered many | ||||||
20 | events for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which he was a | ||||||
21 | proud member; he also catered and barbequed for country clubs, | ||||||
22 | business establishments, and private family functions; he |

1 | served as a special deputy sheriff and belonged to the American | ||||||
2 | Legion, the Fleet Reserve Association, the Maeystown | ||||||
3 | Sportsman's Club, and the Monroe County Democratic Club; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Willard Scheibe was preceded in death by his | ||||||
5 | parents; his wife, Opal; his in-laws, Otto and Millie | ||||||
6 | Eichelmann, Bill Eichelmann, Art and Arlou (nee Eichelmann) | ||||||
7 | Marquardt, and Paul and Leola Eichelmann; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Willard Scheibe is survived by his | ||||||
9 | brother-in-law, Wesley (Dixie) Eichelmann; his nieces and | ||||||
10 | nephews, Brenda (Jim) Krebel, Sandy Baldwin, Carol (Ray) | ||||||
11 | Turnquist, Kevin Eichelmann, Bob (Denise) Eichelmann, Lisa | ||||||
12 | Meegan, Randy (Rose) Marquardt, Gary (Ramona) Marquardt, Tracy | ||||||
13 | (Char) Marquardt, and Scott (Darlene) Marquardt; and other | ||||||
14 | relatives, including members of the Scheibe, Eichelmann, | ||||||
15 | Toenjes, and other families; therefore, be it
| ||||||
16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
17 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
18 | we mourn the passing of Willard Anton Scheibe, and extend our | ||||||
19 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
20 | and loved him; and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of Willard Scheibe as an expression of |
