2 | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives pay honor and respect to the truly great | ||||||
4 | individuals who have served our country and have dedicated | ||||||
5 | their lives to defending our nation's freedom; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
7 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lance | ||||||
8 | Corporal Luther Baud, who passed away honorably on Memorial | ||||||
9 | Day, May 27, 2013 in Sacramento, California; his body was | ||||||
10 | escorted home by his fellow marines on June 8, 2013 where he | ||||||
11 | was greeted by his hometown friends and family; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Luther Baud was born on | ||||||
13 | February 28, 1992 in Robinson; he graduated from Oblong High | ||||||
14 | School in May of 2010 and joined the Marine Corps delayed entry | ||||||
15 | program on March 2, 2010; on March 11, 2011 he graduated from | ||||||
16 | Basic Training in San Diego, California; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, In March 2011, Private First Class James Luther | ||||||
18 | Baud reported to the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton in | ||||||
19 | California where he trained as a Basic Infantry Rifleman; | ||||||
20 | following the School of Infantry, Private First Class Baud | ||||||
21 | reported to the Light Armored Vehicle Crewmen course at Camp | ||||||
22 | Pendleton and received a Military Occupational Specialty of |

1 | 0313 Light Armored Vehicle Crewman; in July of 2011, Private | ||||||
2 | First Class Baud reported to the 1st Light Armored | ||||||
3 | Reconnaissance Battalion to participate in pre-deployment | ||||||
4 | training; he was promoted to Lance Corporal on September 1, | ||||||
5 | 2011; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Baud deployed with the 1st Light | ||||||
7 | Armored Vehicle Reconnaissance Charlie Company Weapons Platoon | ||||||
8 | to Afghanistan as an Infantry Rifleman from October 2011 to May | ||||||
9 | 2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Baud will be forever remembered for | ||||||
11 | his kind, compassionate heart, his love for God, family, and | ||||||
12 | friends, and his patriotism and bravery; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Baud will be dearly missed by his | ||||||
14 | mother, Thelma Wall; his stepfather, Monty Wall; his brothers, | ||||||
15 | Scott, Jr., Aaron, and Cameron Baud; his father, Scott Baud, | ||||||
16 | Sr.; his 2 closest friends, Jesse and Christian Mier; his | ||||||
17 | fellow soldiers; and the citizens of a grateful nation; | ||||||
18 | therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
20 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
21 | we mourn, along with his family, friends, and the members of a | ||||||
22 | grateful nation, the passing of United States Marine Corps |
