2 | WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are | ||||||
3 | pleased to recognize and honor the HNTB Corporation on the | ||||||
4 | occasion of its 100th anniversary in business as a professional | ||||||
5 | engineering and infrastructure solutions consultant; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, HNTB Corporation is an employee-owned | ||||||
7 | infrastructure firm serving public and private owners and | ||||||
8 | contractors; celebrating a century of service, HNTB's | ||||||
9 | contributions can be seen among the largest, most complex | ||||||
10 | bridges, highways, airports, public buildings, and public | ||||||
11 | works projects across the country, including the State of | ||||||
12 | Illinois; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1914 as a small bridge | ||||||
14 | design partnership in Kansas City, Missouri, HNTB's core work | ||||||
15 | has evolved from meeting clients' needs with mechanically | ||||||
16 | innovative structural designs to solving larger technical and | ||||||
17 | institutional challenges; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, The firm originally made its name in | ||||||
19 | moveable-bridge designs for railroads and toll roadway bridges | ||||||
20 | and toll highways before moving into the United States | ||||||
21 | interstate highway system, aviation, water services, | ||||||
22 | architecture, rail and public transit, program management, and |

1 | integrated delivery, including design-build and public-private | ||||||
2 | partnerships; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, The firm's Chicago office has played a significant | ||||||
4 | role in a large share of the Chicago metropolitan area's | ||||||
5 | infrastructure and transportation, including such landmark | ||||||
6 | projects as the Reconstruction on the Dan Ryan Expressway, the | ||||||
7 | Chicago Transit Authority's Wilson Station, the North Avenue | ||||||
8 | Bridge, program management initiatives for PACE and its bus | ||||||
9 | rapid transit program, capital improvement programs at O'Hare | ||||||
10 | and Midway International Airports, and managing the Illinois | ||||||
11 | Tollway's Congestion-Relief Program; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, HNTB has been consistently named among the | ||||||
13 | industry's top firms in bridges, highways, airports, | ||||||
14 | transportation, mass transit and rail, design firms, and green | ||||||
15 | design firms; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, HNTB is commemorating its 100th anniversary by | ||||||
17 | having its Chicago office's 170 employees unite to contribute | ||||||
18 | 100 hours of community service through partnerships with | ||||||
19 | organizations such as the Future City Competition, the ACE | ||||||
20 | Mentoring Program, and Special Olympics Illinois; and | ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, There are very few Illinois businesses that have | ||||||
22 | reached 100 years of operation and service; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
2 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
3 | we congratulate and commend HNTB Corporation on the occasion of | ||||||
4 | its 100th anniversary and wish its owners and employees | ||||||
5 | continued success in the future; and be it further

6 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to HNTB Vice President and Chicago Office Leader | ||||||
8 | David P. Crosson, PE, as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
