HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to honor Pastor Melvin L. Moore, Sr. for
4his work and service to his community; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pastor Melvin Moore, Sr. was born in Harvey and
6raised in Markham; he attended Thornwood High School in South
7Holland; he subsequently attended the Moody Bible Institute,
8the Chicago Baptist Institute, where he earned a degree in
9accounting, and St. Thomas Christian University, where he
10received a Doctorate of Divinity; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Pastor Melvin Moore, Sr. accepted his call into
12the ministry at the age of 14 under Pastor C. L. Guyse at
13Greater St. John Baptist Church in Markham; after serving for 2
14years as interim Pastor of Second Baptist Church, he served for
1510 years as Assistant Pastor of First Paradise M.B. Church in
16Chicago under the late Pastor Eddie H. Gardner, Sr.; at the age
17of 33, he was chosen to serve as pastor of Woodlawn Union
18Baptist Church in Chicago; under Pastor Moore's leadership, the
19church's membership increased from 25 to 200 members in less
20than 2 years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, After his 7th year at Woodlawn Union Baptist
22Church, Pastor Melvin Moore, Sr. and his wife, Lady Moore,

1organized New Beginning Full Gospel Ministries, a thriving
2ministry that is operating under an anointing where lives are
3being changed; he has traveled across the United States
4preaching the Word of God and teaching workshops and seminars;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Pastor Melvin Moore, Sr. has been the host of a
7very successful local radio program on WYCA-FM and a television
8program on WJYS; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Pastor Melvin Moore, Sr. served as second
10assistant to the late Overseer of the Full Gospel Baptist
11Church Fellowship (State of Illinois - Eastern District) for
12many years before he was elevated to the position of District
13Overseer for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship (State
14of Illinois - Joshua District); therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we honor Dr. Melvin L. Moore, Sr. for his work and service to
18his community and wish him continued success and happiness in
19the future; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to Pastor Melvin Moore, Sr. as a symbol of our esteem
22and respect.
