HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Pamela Reilly on
4receiving the 2014 Teacher of the Year Award from the Illinois
5State Board of Education; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly is a 2nd grade teacher from Woodbury
7Elementary School in Sandwich Community Unit School District
8430; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly was announced as this year's top
10educator at the 39th annual "Those Who Excel/Illinois Teacher
11of the Year" banquet in Normal, and selected from 200 nominees
12and 11 finalists from around the State of Illinois; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly has been a teacher for 12 years, 5
14of which have been in the Sandwich School District, where she
15is known for being humble and dedicated and promotes critical
16thinking for her students and where she even has her students
17take responsibility for their education by reciting a mantra by
18asking them "Who's in charge of your learning?", and the
19students reply, "I am!"; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly has been a leader in technology and
21its use in the classroom as well as her knowledge and use of

1"Common Core"; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly has received a Certificate of
3Appreciation from Indian Valley Vocational Center for her
4mentorship of high school students and has been recognized for
5her work by Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an
6organization of professional women; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly received her Bachelor's Degree in
8Education from Aurora University, her Master's Degree in
9Education from National-Louis University, and is a graduate of
10Somonauk High School; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly was born Pam Colclasure and is a
12mother of 3 boys; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we commend Pamela Reilly for her selfless service to her
16students and their families and recognize the impact she is
17having on the students she instructs; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Pamela Reilly as a symbol of our respect and
20esteem.
