HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor former Glen Ellyn Police
4Officer Ray Munch; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ray Munch joined the Glen Ellyn Police Department
6on January 3, 2002; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ray Munch was named Glen Ellyn Officer of the Year
8in 2004, just 2 years after joining the department; the
9numerous reasons cited for bestowing him this award included
10always putting the safety of the public first, talking suicidal
11subjects into surrendering themselves for treatment, becoming
12a CPR/AED trainer, using his automatic external defibrillator
13to aid people in distress, participating in the seat belt
14enforcement program, and achieving the highest possible
15overall ranking in his first annual evaluation; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ray Munch was awarded The Spirit of Glen Ellyn
17Award and Officer of the Year for the second time in 2010 as
18part of a group who responded to a fire at Royal Glen
19Condominiums; he carried a woman with Muscular Dystrophy down 3
20flights of stairs to safety; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Ray Munch has received countless letters of thanks

1and commendation from the public and other police agencies; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Ray Munch resigned from the Glen Ellyn Police
3Department on August 29, 2013 due to injuries sustained in the
4line of duty; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ray Munch was born on July 19, 1980; he attended
6Lisle Senior High School and the College of DuPage, and he
7graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb; he lives
8in Naperville with his wife, Kelley, and their 2 sons, Ben and
9Nate; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we honor Ray Munch for his service to the people of Glen Ellyn
13and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Ray Munch as an expression of our esteem and
17respect.
