2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to honor Growth Dimensions for their hard | ||||||
4 | work and dedication in attracting business and economic | ||||||
5 | development in the City of Belvidere and Boone County; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Growth Dimensions was activated in 1982 as a | ||||||
7 | public-private corporation for economic development after | ||||||
8 | being incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation; the | ||||||
9 | organization was organized in 1979 by the City of Belvidere, | ||||||
10 | Boone County, and the local Chamber of Commerce; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Today, Growth Dimensions coordinates and manages | ||||||
12 | the strategic initiative projects identified in the | ||||||
13 | Belvidere-Boone County Economic Development Strategic Plan, | ||||||
14 | including business retention, expansion and attraction | ||||||
15 | programs, the new AgTech Initiative, the Kishwaukee Riverfront | ||||||
16 | Development, and the Transportation Initiative Project; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, The organization works to market the area | ||||||
18 | effectively to potential investors, advocates cooperative | ||||||
19 | efforts to address common concerns of the communities in the | ||||||
20 | region, and maintains close contact with State, city, village, | ||||||
21 | and county officials and development staff regarding | ||||||
22 | development codes, standards, and incentives; and

1 | WHEREAS, Growth Dimensions has been a strong partner | ||||||
2 | working with major companies such as Chrysler, which announced | ||||||
3 | in 2012 that it will add 1,800 jobs at its Belvidere Assembly | ||||||
4 | Plant, and Acument Global Technologies; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Growth Dimensions has also partnered with up and | ||||||
6 | coming mid-size companies that continue to create jobs in the | ||||||
7 | Boone County region, such as Wema Vogtland, a specialist | ||||||
8 | company for retooling and overhauling of machine tools | ||||||
9 | primarily for the automotive industry, and Pierce Distribution | ||||||
10 | Services; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Growth Dimensions is ably led by Executive | ||||||
12 | Director Kelly Galluzzo, Economic Development Manager Tammy | ||||||
13 | English, and the organization's Board of Directors, including | ||||||
14 | President Richard Van Evera, Vice President Kent Kniep, | ||||||
15 | Treasurer Gregory Brown, and the area business leaders who sit | ||||||
16 | on the Board; and

17 | WHEREAS, Growth Dimensions serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
18 | integrity, and dedication in retaining and attracting jobs and | ||||||
19 | improving economic development in the State of Illinois; | ||||||
20 | therefore, be it

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

1 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
2 | we honor the staff and board of directors of Growth Dimensions | ||||||
3 | for their work in attracting economic development to the City | ||||||
4 | of Belvidere and the Boone County region and ultimately helping | ||||||
5 | the people of the State of Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to Growth Dimensions as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
8 | respect.
