2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. | ||||||
4 | Norris A. Erickson of Aurora, who passed away on August 20, | ||||||
5 | 2012; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Norris Erickson was born on April 6, 1944, in | ||||||
7 | Davenport, Iowa; his parents were Alvin and Lila Erickson; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Norris Erickson served with pride as a member of | ||||||
9 | the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 as part of the | ||||||
10 | Military Police in Panama; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Norris Erickson graduated from Palmer College of | ||||||
12 | Chiropractic in 1972, following in the footsteps of his father, | ||||||
13 | mother and aunt; after graduation, he moved to Sandwich, | ||||||
14 | joining his aunt at her chiropractic office; in 1976, he moved | ||||||
15 | to Aurora and opened Erickson Chiropractic Center, focusing on | ||||||
16 | building one of the largest children's practices in Aurora; in | ||||||
17 | 2000, he was one of 33 in the first graduating class at Palmer | ||||||
18 | College to receive his LCP in the Palmer Legion of Chiropractic | ||||||
19 | Philosophers; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Norris Erickson was awarded with a Fellow in the | ||||||
21 | Palmer Academy of Chiropractic in 2000 for his valued |

| |||||||
1 | contributions to Palmer College and to the advancement of the | ||||||
2 | chiropractic profession; in 2001, he was awarded the | ||||||
3 | Distinguished Fellow from the International Chiropractic | ||||||
4 | Association in recognition of outstanding contributions to | ||||||
5 | patients, chiropractic, and humanity; in 2005, he earned his | ||||||
6 | Diplomate in Philosophical Chiropractic Standard by the | ||||||
7 | International Chiropractic Association Council of Chiropractic | ||||||
8 | Philosophy; in 1986 and 1987, he went on 2 chiropractic | ||||||
9 | missions to Panama, bringing the gift of chiropractic to the | ||||||
10 | people; and | ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Norris Erickson had been a long serving Commander | ||||||
12 | on the Roosevelt Aurora Post 84 American Legion and a past Kane | ||||||
13 | County Commander of the American Legion and Passe Chef de Gare | ||||||
14 | of 40 & 8 elite of the American Legion; he was instrumental in | ||||||
15 | bringing the Moving Wall to Aurora in 1989 and in the renaming | ||||||
16 | of Veterans Island, and the memorial on it dedicated to all | ||||||
17 | veterans, past, present, and future; he was a member of the | ||||||
18 | Masonic Lodge #254 and the Aurora Area Shrine Club and served | ||||||
19 | as a member on the Aurora Airport Board for 2 decades; he also | ||||||
20 | sponsored very successful softball teams in the 1980s and was | ||||||
21 | referred to as the George Steinbrenner of the Fox Valley; and
| ||||||
22 | WHEREAS, Norris Erickson is survived by his wife, Sally; | ||||||
23 | his daughters, Krista Erickson Tetter, Karsta (Bill) Erickson, | ||||||
24 | and Christine (Tom) Watt; his son, Phillip Baratta; and his |

| |||||||
1 | grandchildren, Kyra Erickson Tetter, Kelsen Erickson, and | ||||||
2 | Rocco and Anthony Watt; therefore, be it
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
4 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
5 | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. | ||||||
6 | Norris A. Erickson; and be it further
| ||||||
7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
8 | presented to the family of Norris Erickson as an expression of | ||||||
9 | our sympathy.
