2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Fred |
4 | | Whitlatch of West Frankfort, who passed away on June 23, 2013; |
5 | | and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fred Whitlatch was born on April 15, 1952, in |
7 | | Tower Hill to Lester and Ilene (nee McDonald) Whitlatch; he |
8 | | graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1974 with a |
9 | | degree in education; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fred Whitlatch taught high school biology and |
11 | | coached multiple sports in Girard from 1975 to 1979; he |
12 | | graduated from University of Illinois Dental School in Chicago |
13 | | in 1982 and embarked on a new career; he served the West |
14 | | Frankfort community as a dentist for 31 years; in 2012, he |
15 | | joined Morthland College and returned to teaching biology; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fred Whitlatch volunteered his services for |
17 | | the annual "Give Kids a Smile" campaign as well as other |
18 | | charitable opportunities around the State of Illinois; he was a |
19 | | member and president of the Southern Illinois Dental Society; |
20 | | and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fred Whitlatch was a member of Trinity United |

1 | | Methodist Church, where he sang bass in the choir and played |
2 | | acoustic guitar and often led the praise team; he was actively |
3 | | involved with the Walk to Emmaus community from 1966 to 2012, |
4 | | where he served as community lay director and led in various |
5 | | leadership capacities on many weekend retreats; he was also a |
6 | | member of the Lion's Club in West Frankfort; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fred Whitlatch is survived by his wife, Debby; |
8 | | his parents; his son, Jeff Whitlatch; his daughters, Elise |
9 | | (Barnabas) Omulokoli and Corinne Whitlatch; his brothers, |
10 | | George (Kathy) Whitlatch and Dale (Karyn) Whitlatch; and his |
11 | | sisters, Lois (Lynn) Laughlin and Lynne (Blair) Wagner; |
12 | | therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
14 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
15 | | we mourn the passing of Dr. Fred Whitlatch, and extend our |
16 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew |
17 | | and loved him; and be it further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Dr. Fred Whitlatch as an expression |
20 | | of our deepest sympathy.
