2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Bill |
4 | | Stevens, who passed away on June 3, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Stevens was born on September 6, 1939, in |
6 | | Marion; his parents were William and Hazel Victoria Stevens; he |
7 | | married Patricia A. Pasquino on December 31, 1960, in St. |
8 | | Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Bill Stevens was a retired coal miner, having |
10 | | worked for Old Ben No. 24 and Brushy Creek Coal Mine; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Bill Stevens served as mayor of Johnston City; he |
12 | | served as chairman for the Williamson County Democratic Party |
13 | | and as financial secretary for UMWA Local 2420; he also served |
14 | | on the merit board for the police and fire departments in |
15 | | Johnston City; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Bill Stevens was a member of Our Lady of Mount |
17 | | Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin and formerly attended St. |
18 | | Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City; he was also a member |
19 | | of Knights of Columbus in Johnston City and a former member of |
20 | | Southern Illinois Enforcement Group; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Bill Stevens was preceded in death by his parents; |
2 | | his sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Ted Martin; and his |
3 | | brother-in-law, Wayne Gibbens; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Bill Stevens is survived by his wife of 52 years, |
5 | | Pat Stevens; his daughters and son-in-law, Lynn Ann Steh and |
6 | | Lori Kay and Danny Beers; his grandchildren, Wesley J. Steh, |
7 | | Adra "Addie" Rash (Ryan), and Megan Dawes; his |
8 | | great-granddaughter, Aubrey Rash; his brother and |
9 | | sister-in-law, the Rev. Larry and Maurene Stevens; his sister, |
10 | | Sharon Gibbens; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, |
11 | | Catherine and Henry Moore and Chris Pasquino; his many nieces |
12 | | and nephews; his close family friends, John Bradley and Tommy |
13 | | Thomas; and his beloved pet, Hazie May; therefore, be it
|
14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
15 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
16 | | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of |
17 | | Bill Stevens; and be it further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Bill Stevens as an expression of our |
20 | | sympathy.
