2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate George Andros, founder of | ||||||
4 | Music Plant Records, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of | ||||||
5 | the company in 2013; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, George Andros, more famously known as Georgie | ||||||
7 | Porgie, is a singer/songwriter, recording artist, record | ||||||
8 | producer, independent dance music recording mogul, and one of | ||||||
9 | the hottest dance music remixers in Chicago; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Georgie Porgie was greatly instrumental during | ||||||
11 | the infancy of house music, which began in Chicago in the early | ||||||
12 | 1980s; over the years, his talents have expanded into all | ||||||
13 | aspects of the music business and he has gone on to create his | ||||||
14 | own blend of Chicago dance beats and infectious rhythmic | ||||||
15 | grooves; and

16 | WHEREAS, Georgie Porgie, a former local DJ, debuted with | ||||||
17 | the release of "Baby Come Back to Me", and started climbing | ||||||
18 | charts with "Let the Music Pump You Up", followed by the hit | ||||||
19 | singles "Everybody Must Party", "I'm in Love", and "Don't Want | ||||||
20 | You"; and

21 | WHEREAS, Georgie Porgie's uplifting songs of love, life, |

1 | and strength reflect the hopes and dreams of many in which he | ||||||
2 | translates so eloquently through his gift of music; he has | ||||||
3 | performed for tens of thousands of fans in dance clubs, | ||||||
4 | festivals, and theaters in countries such as Italy, Spain, | ||||||
5 | United Kingdom, Brazil, Portugal, Greece, Canada, Switzerland, | ||||||
6 | and Japan; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Georgie Porgie lends his remixing talents to pop, | ||||||
8 | urban, and dance artists alike; his ability to write gives him | ||||||
9 | an advantage as a songwriter and a remixer for highly lyrical | ||||||
10 | songs; and

11 | WHEREAS, As the label head of Music Plant Group, Georgie | ||||||
12 | Porgie has collaborated with dance music legends such as Linda | ||||||
13 | Clifford, Suzanne Palmer, Pepper Mashay, and Barbara Tucker; | ||||||
14 | and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, In 2010, Billboard Magazine named Georgie Porgie a | ||||||
16 | Top 10 Dance Artist of the Decade along the likes of Madonna, | ||||||
17 | Beyonce, and others; therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
19 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
20 | we congratulate George Andros on the occasion of the 20th | ||||||
21 | anniversary of Music Plant Records and wish him continued | ||||||
22 | success and happiness in the future; and be it further
