6 | | WHEREAS, Autism, which is 5 times more common among boys |
7 | | than girls, usually appears
during the first 3 years of life; |
8 | | and

9 | | WHEREAS, Early diagnosis, research, training, education, |
10 | | and therapies are vital to reducing the
effects of Autism; and

11 | | WHEREAS, Current research suspects that there is not a |
12 | | single cause that will ultimately be
discovered but rather a |
13 | | cluster of factors which include genetics, pregnancy/birth |
14 | | complications,
viral infections, metabolic disorders, |
15 | | congenital anomaly syndrome (birth defects), and
environmental |
16 | | toxins; therefore, be it |
17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
18 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
19 | | we designate April 17, 2013, as
Autism Day in the State of |
20 | | Illinois to urge both government and its citizenry to become |
21 | | aware and educated on the subject of Autism Spectrum Disorders.
