HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to honor artist and life-long 
4Illinois resident, Robert Peter Workman; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Workman officially became the first 
6American artist accepted into the collection of the Musee du 
7Louvre for the 21st century and officially a part of American 
8history; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, On January 15th, 2001, the first full business day 
10of the new millennium in France, the Musee du Louvre accepted a 
11drawing by Robert Workman by letter saying that the "drawing 
12bears witness to the international renown of the Louvre"; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The drawing, a 9x12 pencil drawing on canvas, is 
14now housed in the permanent archives collection and is not on 
15public display in the museum; therefore, be it
  
 

  
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
17NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
18we honor Robert Workman on having his work accepted into the 
19Musee du Louvre in France, and we wish him all the best in his 
20future endeavours; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
2presented to Robert Workman as an expression of our esteem and 
3respect.
