Amends the Pyrotechnic Use Act. Repeals a provision prohibiting the sale and use of fireworks. Provides that fireworks may only be discharged by individuals over the age of 18. Provides that fireworks may only be discharged between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. except on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and New Year's Eve.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Pyrotechnic Use Act is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 2.2 as follows: |
6 | | (425 ILCS 35/2.2) |
7 | | Sec. 2.2. Consumer displays. |
8 | | (a) Fireworks may only be discharged by individuals over |
9 | | the age of 18. |
10 | | (b) Fireworks may only be discharged between the hours of |
11 | | 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. except on Memorial Day, Independence |
12 | | Day, Labor Day, and New Year's Eve. On those specified |
13 | | holidays, fireworks may be discharged between the hours of 9:00 |
14 | | a.m. to midnight. |
15 | | Each consumer display shall be handled by a competent |
16 | | individual who has received training from a consumer fireworks |
17 | | training class approved by the Office of the State Fire |
18 | | Marshal. Applications for consumer display permits shall be |
19 | | made in writing at least 15 days in advance of the date of the |
20 | | display, unless agreed to otherwise by the local jurisdiction |
21 | | issuing the permit and the fire chief of the jurisdiction in |
22 | | which the display will occur. After a permit has been granted, |
23 | | sales, possession, use, and distribution of consumer fireworks |
