| 1 | | AN ACT concerning State government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
| 5 | | Uniform Racial Classification Act.
|
| 6 | | Section 5. Uniform racial classification. Notwithstanding |
| 7 | | any other provision of law, except as otherwise required by |
| 8 | | federal law or regulation, whenever a State agency is required |
| 9 | | by law to compile or report statistical data using racial or |
| 10 | | ethnic classifications, that State agency shall use the |
| 11 | | following classifications: (i) White; (ii) Black or African |
| 12 | | American; (iii) American Indian or Alaska Native; (iv) Asian; |
| 13 | | (v) Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander; or (vi) Hispanic |
| 14 | | or Latino. |
| 15 | | For the purposes of this Act, "State agency" means the |
| 16 | | offices of the constitutional officers identified in Article V |
| 17 | | of the Illinois Constitution, executive agencies, and |
| 18 | | departments, boards, commissions, and authorities under the |
| 19 | | Governor.

| 20 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 21 | | becoming law.
