1 | AN ACT concerning animals.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
4 | Section 5. The Animal Gastroenteritis Act is amended by | ||||||
5 | changing Section 2 as follows:
| ||||||
6 | (510 ILCS 15/2) (from Ch. 8, par. 204)
| ||||||
7 | Sec. 2.
The Director of Agriculture is authorized to | ||||||
8 | establish within the
Department an Advisory Committee to be | ||||||
9 | known as the Swine Disease Control
Committee. Such committee | ||||||
10 | shall consist of 5 producers of swine, 2
representatives of | ||||||
11 | general farm organizations in the State, one
representative of | ||||||
12 | general swine organizations in the State,
one or more licensed | ||||||
13 | practicing veterinarians, the State Veterinarian, the Director | ||||||
14 | of the Galesburg Animal Disease Laboratory,
the administrator | ||||||
15 | of animal disease programs
the Dean of the College of | ||||||
16 | Veterinary Medicine and the
Dean of the College of Agriculture | ||||||
17 | of the University of Illinois, the Dean of the College of | ||||||
18 | Agricultural Science of Southern Illinois University, the Dean | ||||||
19 | of the School of Agriculture of Western Illinois University, | ||||||
20 | the Chair of the Department of Agriculture of the Illinois | ||||||
21 | State University, the
Director of Public Health , and the | ||||||
22 | Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and ,
Conservation and Energy | ||||||
23 | Committee , of the Senate and the Chairman of the House

1 | Committee on Agriculture and Conservation Committee
of the | ||||||
2 | House . In the appointment of such committee, the Director shall
| ||||||
3 | consult with representative persons and recognized | ||||||
4 | organizations in the
respective fields concerning such | ||||||
5 | appointments of producers and members of
general farm | ||||||
6 | organizations.
| ||||||
7 | The Director is authorized to establish within the | ||||||
8 | Department an
advisory committee to be known as the Cattle | ||||||
9 | Disease Control Research Committee.
Such committee shall | ||||||
10 | consist of 2 representatives of general farm
organizations in | ||||||
11 | the State, one representative of general cattle
organizations | ||||||
12 | in the State, the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine
| ||||||
13 | and the Dean of the College of Agriculture of the University of | ||||||
14 | Illinois, the Dean of the College of Agricultural Science of | ||||||
15 | Southern Illinois University, the Dean of the School of | ||||||
16 | Agriculture of Western Illinois University, the Chair of the | ||||||
17 | Department of Agriculture of the Illinois State University,
the | ||||||
18 | administrator of animal disease programs and
the Director of | ||||||
19 | Public Health, the Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and ,
| ||||||
20 | Conservation and Energy Committee ,
of the Senate and the | ||||||
21 | Chairman of the House Agriculture and Conservation Committee on | ||||||
22 | Agriculture of the
House . Eight additional members | ||||||
23 | representing the following agricultural
interests: feeder | ||||||
24 | cattle, purebred beef cattle, dairy cattle and one or
more | ||||||
25 | licensed practicing veterinarians , the State Veterinarian, and | ||||||
26 | the Director of the Galesburg Animal Disease Laboratory . In the |

1 | appointment of such
committee, the Director shall consult with | ||||||
2 | representative persons and
recognized organizations in the | ||||||
3 | respective fields, producers and members of
general farm | ||||||
4 | organizations.
| ||||||
5 | Meetings shall only occur in the event of a disease | ||||||
6 | outbreak or other significant disease situation. The meetings | ||||||
7 | shall be scheduled at the call of From time to time the | ||||||
8 | Director shall consult with the Swine Disease
Control Committee | ||||||
9 | and the Cattle Disease Control Research Committee to address | ||||||
10 | disease prevention, management, and control in the case of a | ||||||
11 | disease outbreak. Members of the Committees shall receive no | ||||||
12 | compensation, but shall be reimbursed for expenses necessarily | ||||||
13 | incurred in the performance of their duties concerning
research | ||||||
14 | projects to be undertaken, the priority of such projects, the
| ||||||
15 | results of such research and the manner in which the results of | ||||||
16 | such
research can be made available to best serve the livestock | ||||||
17 | industry of the
State .

18 | The Director may also consult with such committees | ||||||
19 | concerning problems
arising in the administration of "An Act | ||||||
20 | authorizing and providing for a
cooperative program between | ||||||
21 | United States, state and local agencies, public
and private | ||||||
22 | agencies and organizations and individuals for the control of
| ||||||
23 | starlings, rodents and other injurious predatory animal and | ||||||
24 | bird pests and
making an appropriation therefor", approved | ||||||
