Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that anyone under 21 years of age that is convicted of possession of cannabis under the Cannabis Control Act shall have their driver's license suspended for a period of 3 months. Provides that upon conviction the court shall order the license surrendered to clerk of the court, who shall forward the license and a report of the conviction to the Secretary of State.

1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 6-205.4 as follows: |
6 | | (625 ILCS 5/6-205.4 new) |
7 | | Sec. 6-205.4. Suspension of a minor's driver's license for |
8 | | possession of cannabis. The driver's license of a person under |
9 | | 21 years of age convicted of possession of cannabis under |
10 | | Section 4 of the Cannabis Control Act shall be suspended by the |
11 | | Secretary for a period of 3 months. Upon conviction of a person |
12 | | under 21 years of age for possession of cannabis the court |
13 | | shall order the person to surrender his or her driver's license |
14 | | or permit to the clerk of the court, who shall forward the |
15 | | license, together with a report of the conviction, to the |
16 | | Secretary.
