Amends the Open Meetings Act. Provides that if a person requests information from the corporate authorities of a public body during a meeting and if the corporate authorities of the public body do not respond to the request during the meeting, then the corporate authorities of the public body shall provide a written response to the request prior to or at the next meeting of the public body. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Open Meetings Act is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 3.6 as follows: |
6 | | (5 ILCS 120/3.6 new) |
7 | | Sec. 3.6. Required response to questions made during |
8 | | meetings. If a person requests information from the corporate |
9 | | authorities of a public body during a meeting and if the |
10 | | corporate authorities of the public body do not respond to the |
11 | | request during the meeting, then the corporate authorities of |
12 | | the public body shall provide a written response to the request |
13 | | prior to or at the next meeting of the public body. |
14 | | Section 90. The State Mandates Act is amended by adding |
15 | | Section 8.37 as follows: |
16 | | (30 ILCS 805/8.37 new) |
17 | | Sec. 8.37. Exempt mandate. Notwithstanding Sections 6 and 8 |
18 | | of this Act, no reimbursement by the State is required for the |
19 | | implementation of any mandate created by this amendatory Act of |
20 | | the 98th General Assembly.
