1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing Section |
5 | | 2-1005 as follows:
|
6 | | (55 ILCS 5/2-1005) (from Ch. 34, par. 2-1005)
|
7 | | Sec. 2-1005. Quorum; approval of ordinances. A majority of |
8 | | the the
members of any county board shall constitute a quorum |
9 | | for the transaction
of business; and all questions which shall |
10 | | arise at meetings shall be
determined by the votes of the |
11 | | majority of the members present, except in
such cases as is |
12 | | otherwise provided.

13 | | A county board in a county where the chairman is elected at |
14 | | large may
upon passage, adoption or enactment of a specific |
15 | | ordinance apply the
following provisions: Any ordinance |
16 | | passed, adopted or otherwise enacted by
the board in a county |
17 | | where the chairman is elected at large shall be
presented to |
18 | | the chairman before it becomes effective. If the chairman
|
19 | | approves such ordinance, resolution or motion, he shall sign it |
20 | | and it shall
become law on the date prescribed; if not, he |
21 | | shall return it to the board
within 10 business days with his |
22 | | objections and the board shall proceed
to reconsider the matter |
23 | | at its next meeting, to be held within 30 business
days of the |
