AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 498




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 498 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:




 
4    "Section 5. The Board of Higher Education Act is amended  by 
5adding Section 8.5 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 205/8.5 new)
7    Sec. 8.5. Capital appropriation; facility renovations at 
8universities. 
9    (a)  With regard to a capital appropriation made on or after 
10the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 98th General 
11Assembly for new construction only, up to 10% of that 
12appropriation may, at the request of a public university's 
13board of trustees, be set aside in a separate fund held locally 
14by the university for use in addressing capital renewal or 
15deferred maintenance needs as they arise.
16    (b)  The Board shall allow public universities to

1recalculate project requests for prioritization if they elect 
2to utilize the capital renewal set-aside provided for in this 
3Section.
 

4    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 
52014.".
