Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center Act. Makes a technical change in the Section concerning the short title.

210 ILCS 5/3from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 157-8.3

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center Act. Changes the definition of "ambulatory surgical treatment center" to include any facility that meets the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) definition of ambulatory surgical center and is certified by CMS as an ambulatory surgical center.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 2
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the bill, as amended by Senate Amendment No. 1, except with the following changes: (1) provides that the definition of "ambulatory surgical treatment center" includes any place that meets the definition of an ambulatory surgical center under the regulations of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is actively enrolled as a Medicare provider (instead of is certified as an ambulatory surgical center) and (2) makes grammatical changes.

House Floor Amendment No. 1
Adds reference to:
210 ILCS 5/6.8 new

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center Act. Reinserts the provisions of the engrossed bill with the following changes: (1) deletes a provision in the definition of "ambulatory surgical treatment center" providing that an ambulatory surgical treatment center includes any place that meets the definition of an ambulatory surgical center under the regulations of the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS); (2) adds a provision that the definition of "ambulatory surgical treatment center" includes any place that meets and complies with the definition of an ambulatory surgical treatment center under the rules adopted by the Department of Public Health; and (3) further amends the Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center Act by providing that an ambulatory surgical treatment center that elects to have an agreement with CMS must also meet certain Medicare conditions as an ambulatory surgical center and have an active agreement with CMS to participate in Medicare as an ambulatory surgical center provider in Illinois.
