Statutes Amended In Order of Appearance
625 ILCS 5/6-303from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 6-303

Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Amends the offense for driving on a suspended or revoked license so that graduated penalties for repeat violations of this Section require the prior convictions of driving on a suspended or revoked driver's license to have the same underlying cause of suspension or revocation of the driver's license as the current violation.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Inserts the provisions of the original bill, and provides that a person's driver's license, permit, or privilege to obtain a driver's license or permit may be subject to multiple simultaneous suspensions or revocations. Provides that one suspension or revocation does not negate any others. Provides that graduated penalties for repeat violations of driving on a suspended or revoked license may be imposed if the prior convictions were for driving on a license that was suspended or revoked for any of the following reasons: (1) driving under the influence, (2) failing to stop the vehicle after being involved in an accident involving death or personal injury, (3) refusing to submit to chemical testing upon suspicion of driving under the influence, or (4) reckless homicide. Effective immediately.

House Floor Amendment No. 3
Adds reference to:
625 ILCS 5/11-501from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-501

Provides that it is a factor in aggravation of driving under the influence to do so while transporting passengers of any age in a school bus or vehicle for-hire.
