Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the reduced speed limit for school zones shall be applicable on school days even when children are not present. Extends the duration of a school day from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

House Floor Amendment No. 2
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the special speed limit for school zones applies whenever children are present, including weekends and after regular school hours, but only when children are present.

House Floor Amendment No. 3
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the special speed limit for school zones applies whenever children are present and within 50 feet of motorized traffic, including weekends and after regular school hours, but only when children are present. Requires the governmental body responsible for the school zone to erect new signs reflecting the school zone change by July 1, 2015.
