| 2 | WHEREAS, State Senator Larry Bomke has represented the | ||||||
| 3 | citizens of the 50th district with distinction
in the General | ||||||
| 4 | Assembly for 18 years; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke has served with honor in the | ||||||
| 6 | Illinois Senate since 1995; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke's priorities have always been those | ||||||
| 8 | of the people he
represents; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke was instrumental in the creation and | ||||||
| 10 | growth of the Springfield Medical
District; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke has supported laws protecting the | ||||||
| 12 | citizens of Illinois,
including legislation that cracks down on | ||||||
| 13 | sex offenders and protects the rights of victims
of sex crimes; | ||||||
| 14 | and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke has most recently served as | ||||||
| 16 | Republican Spokesman for the Senate
Transportation Committee, | ||||||
| 17 | helping to guide public policy that impacted transportation by
| ||||||
| 18 | road, rail, waterway, and air; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke has worked to honor Illinois' | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Veterans and their families
through his sponsorship of | ||||||
| 2 | legislation to create license plates that recognize family
| ||||||
| 3 | members killed in the line of duty; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke has always recognized the need to | ||||||
| 5 | balance the best interests of the public
and the conflicting | ||||||
| 6 | views of all parties, and has always been willing to reach | ||||||
| 7 | across the
aisle to find common ground to enhance the lives of | ||||||
| 8 | the people of Illinois; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke once appeared on the national news | ||||||
| 10 | program Hannity and
Colmes; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke was voted "Best Politician" by the | ||||||
| 12 | readers of the State Journal-Register
from 2008 through 2011; | ||||||
| 13 | and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke was chosen "Best Legislator" in the | ||||||
| 15 | Illinois Times "Best of
Springfield" awards 2004-2012; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke has always made time to hear the | ||||||
| 17 | concerns and questions of any
constituent who walked through | ||||||
| 18 | his door; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke was once featured on the Paul Harvey | ||||||
| 20 | show for mowing an
elderly constituent's lawn; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke is a member of Westminster | ||||||
| 2 | Presbyterian Church; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Senator Bomke and his wife, Sally Jo, have been | ||||||
| 4 | married for over 30 years, and are the
proud parents of 2 | ||||||
| 5 | children, Natalie and Wulf; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, In his 18 years as a lawmaker, Senator Bomke has | ||||||
| 7 | represented his constituents
with determination and class, | ||||||
| 8 | earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues on
both | ||||||
| 9 | sides of the aisle; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 11 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Senator | ||||||
| 12 | Bomke on his retirement
from the Illinois General Assembly | ||||||
| 13 | after 18 years of honorable service; and be it further
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this and resolution be | ||||||
| 15 | presented to Senator Bomke with our friendship, our gratitude | ||||||
| 16 | for his hard work, and our best wishes for his
future | ||||||
| 17 | endeavors.
