SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Ron Sandack has represented the citizens of DuPage and Cook County with distinction in the Illinois Senate for over 2 years; and

WHEREAS, Senator Sandack's priorities have always been those of the people he represents - promoting fiscal responsibility, good education, business development and job creation; and

WHEREAS, Senator Sandack became a lawmaker to make the State of Illinois a better place to live, striving to make State government work best for the communities of suburban Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Senator Sandack has promoted a lean and ethical government during his tenure, immediately declining all State benefits associated with his legislative position upon taking office, opting not to offer legislative scholarships, and promoting legislation to eliminate redundancy in government; and

WHEREAS, Senator Sandack most recently served as Republican Spokesman of the Senate Licensed Activities Committee; he has also been a member of the Senate Financial Institutions Committee, the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Senate Labor Committee, the Senate Appropriations Committee; and the Subcommittees on Special Issues and Health Care Licensing; and

WHEREAS, A number of local and state organizations have honored Senator Sandack for his efforts in the General Assembly, including the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the Downers Grove Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and

WHEREAS, Senator Sandack has been involved in many civic and charitable organizations; he was a former ex-officio board member of the Downers Grove Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation; he was a founding donor of the Education Foundation of Downers Grove; he was a volunteer coach with Downers Grove Youth Baseball; he was also an active supporter and sponsor of numerous local charities and organizations, including Family Shelter Services, Helping Girls Navigate Adolescence (HGNA), and the Grove Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Senator Sandack served on the Downers Grove Village Council from 2003 to 2007; and

WHEREAS, Senator Sandack served as Mayor of Downers Grove from 2007 to 2011 before coming to the Senate; and

WHEREAS, Senator Sandack has served as a partner of the Chicago law firm of Gaido & Fintzen since 2003; and

WHEREAS, Senator Sandack was born on February 15, 1964; he graduated from Rich South Campus High School in 1982 and earned his bachelor's degree in 1986 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and

WHEREAS, Senator Sandack earned his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law in 1989; and

WHEREAS, Senator Sandack and his wife, Kevan, have been married since 1990; they have 2 children; and

WHEREAS, In his 2 years as a State Senator, Ron Sandack has represented his constituents in Springfield with determination and class, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues on both sides of the aisle; and

WHEREAS, Lawmakers and staff alike know and appreciate Senator Sandack for his articulate speech, good-natured personality, his dedication to his ideals and values, and his positive demeanor; and

WHEREAS, Ron Sandack will continue to serve the people of Illinois as the State Representative of the 81st District; and

WHEREAS, Lawmakers and staff look forward to working with Ron Sandack as a State Representative; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ron Sandack on his retirement from the Illinois Senate after 2 years of honorable and dedicated service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ron Sandack with our friendship, our gratitude for his hard work, and our best wishes for his future endeavors.
