2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of
J. Gordon Hannagan of Gifford, who passed |
4 | | away on October 19, 2012; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan was born on March 12, 1931, in |
6 | | Urbana; he was the son of A.J. and Elizabeth (Gordon) Hannagan; |
7 | | he married Janice Fager on August 25, 1955, in Havana; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan was a graduate of Central High |
9 | | School in Champaign and the Rupert School of Auctioneering in |
10 | | Decatur, Indiana; he also attended the University of Illinois |
11 | | for a year; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan traveled throughout the United |
13 | | States and Canada selling American Quarter Horses at public |
14 | | auction; during his lifetime, he sold over 80,000 acres of land |
15 | | in Champaign County and surrounding area at public auction; he |
16 | | and his wife were the owners and operators of Gordyville, USA, |
17 | | an equine auction and event center; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan was inducted into the American |
19 | | Quarter Horse and Illinois Quarter Horse Halls of Fame; he was |
20 | | an avid horse breeder and trader who had an eye for superior |
21 | | blood lines and raised numerous champions; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan was a member of St. Lawrence |
2 | | Church, the Illinois Auctioneers Association, the National |
3 | | Auctioneers Association, the National Reining Horse |
4 | | Association, the American Quarter Horse Association, and the |
5 | | National Cutting Horse Association; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan was preceded in death by his |
7 | | parents; 4 brothers and 4 sisters; and his granddaughter, Emily |
8 | | Rae Hannagan; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan is survived by his wife, |
10 | | Janice; his children, Mary Hannagan, John G. "Bud" (Hillary) |
11 | | Hannagan, Patty (Randy) Frerichs, Eddie (Lisa) Hannagan, Jody |
12 | | (Jay) Quiram, and Jimmy (Angie) Hannagan; his sister, Margaret |
13 | | Wheeler; his grandchildren, Lindsay (Travis) Berlatsky, Kate |
14 | | (Travis) Youmans, Jordan Frerichs, Drew Hannagan, Zackary |
15 | | Hannagan, Taylor Hannagan, Jay Gordon Quiram, Rowdy and Cooper |
16 | | Hannagan, Cale Quiram, and Carson Hannagan; and his |
17 | | great-granddaughter, Olivia Berlatsky; therefore, be it

18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
20 | | his family and friends, the passing of J. Gordon Hannagan; and |
21 | | be it further
