2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply |
3 | | saddened to learn of the death of Capitola Peyton; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Capitola Peyton was born on December 25, 1925, to |
5 | | Dela Hopkins and John Peyton; she graduated from Wendal |
6 | | Phillips High School; she had 5 children, of which 6 |
7 | | grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 |
8 | | great-great-grandchild were born; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Capitola Peyton traveled the world with her |
10 | | sidekick and son, Robert, traveling to places such as Paris; |
11 | | she lived and worked in many different places in the U.S., |
12 | | including Detroit, Los Angeles, and New York; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Capitola Peyton was called the "Mother of the |
14 | | House Movement"; the House Movement was a big part of her life; |
15 | | she would often help her son Robert in whatever way she could |
16 | | when he opened his first club; she was at every party doing |
17 | | everything from working the door to helping out in the |
18 | | coatroom; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Capitola Peyton was affectionately known as |
20 | | "Gypsy"; she was a wonderful mother who loved cats, especially |
21 | | her cat "Annie"; she loved watching movies and television; she |
