| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply | ||||||
3 | saddened to learn of the death of Ken J. McNatt, who died on | ||||||
4 | September 4, 2012, at the age of 91; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ken McNatt was born and grew up in Loveland, | ||||||
6 | Colorado; he joined the Navy in 1942, following the attack on | ||||||
7 | Pearl Harbor, and became a naval pilot in the Pacific theater; | ||||||
8 | he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart, | ||||||
9 | six Air Medals, the Navy Commendation, the Navy Unit | ||||||
10 | Commendation, and American, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, and | ||||||
11 | World War II victory medals; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Ken McNatt finished college after the war, | ||||||
13 | receiving his degree from Denver University in 1948; he began | ||||||
14 | working in sales for the Exxon Corporation, retiring in 1983; | ||||||
15 | and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Ken McNatt moved to Wheaton in 1965, and began a | ||||||
17 | lifetime of public service which included: president of the | ||||||
18 | Arrowhead Homeowners Association, precinct committeeman for 12 | ||||||
19 | years, Milton Township trustee for 16 years, founding | ||||||
20 | chairperson for the Milton Township Seniors and Law Enforcement | ||||||
21 | Together (SALT), and member of the Warrenville VFW Post 8081; | ||||||
22 | his most beloved work was serving with the Warrenville Fire |

1 | Protection District for over 36 years, where he transformed the | ||||||
2 | unit from a solely volunteer fire protection agency to a modern | ||||||
3 | blend of volunteers and staff, with modern equipment to meet | ||||||
4 | the needs of a growing community; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ken McNatt has received numerous awards | ||||||
6 | throughout his years of public service including the Illinois | ||||||
7 | State TRIAD Award (2002), the Milton Township Achievement Award | ||||||
8 | (2002), the Wheaton Good Citizen Award (2009), the Illinois | ||||||
9 | Department Veterans Affairs' "Veteran of the Month" (September | ||||||
10 | 2011), the Milton Township Appreciation Award (2012), and the | ||||||
11 | Trustee Emeritus, Warrenville Fire Protection District (2012); | ||||||
12 | and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Ken McNatt is survived by his wife of 58 years, | ||||||
14 | Dolores; his daughters, Gwen (Chuck Enokian) McNatt and Mary | ||||||
15 | Helen (Bob) Gibson; his 6 grandchildren; his great-grandchild; | ||||||
16 | and his three nieces and a nephew; therefore, be it
| ||||||
17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | Ken McNatt, and we extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
20 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
21 | further

22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
